The Spelmen Street project covered the renovation of mixed-use buildings which now provide units for small businesses in Spitalfields.
The Spelmen Street project was begun in March 1989 as a two-fold community project. It provided a training ground for two new local businesses, Crowngate Builders and Leek Joinery, while ultimately providing a complex of four workshops and a corner shop and store. Employees of the two companies attended day release City & Guilds courses and were trained on site by SSBA staff.
