The Montefiore Centre started life as a school built by Robert Montefiore. During its long history the building has had name changes (the Bethnal Green Training Centre) but has always maintained an educational useage.

In 2001 SsBA, after completing a feasibility study into the buildings use and occupancy was asked to manage the building on behalf of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

SsBA have made many changes and improvements to the centre which now houses a variety of training and educational organisations. and in 2007 reclaimed the name of Montefiore.
