Janomot is the first Bengali newsweekly founded in London in 1969. In fact, it is the first ethnic minority newspaper in Britain.
Janomot was the first Bengali newsweekly published outside Bangladesh. Since then, it has pioneered the British and international Bengali journalism. It has an established reputation for the quality of its journalism.
At the time of the independence struggle for Bangladesh, Janomot was the only Bengali voice abroad, which provided a forum for discussion and debate on the issues affecting the Bangladeshi people.
It became a mouthpiece of their aspirations.
