Make a small pinafore or dress with all in one facing.

How to follow readymade patterns

 

Understand how to buy or follow the instructions of the readymade patterns. A few children patterns will be provided you can use them to cut your dress or bring your own pattern. In one session you should be able to follow the cutting and buying instructions. If you already know how to cut and buy, bring a ready cut garment and start sewing straight away.

Baby coat

Learn how to sew the lining and hood in a coat by making a small baby coat. You can bring a fabric of your choice or use what is available. Most of the students finish coat in one session but you can go at your own pace.

Dart Manipulation

Make different styles by manipulating the bodice dart, or adding the seams or flayers in the style line. Size 12 blocks will be provided.

Curtain Making

Learn How to take curtain measurements and make basic made to measure curtains. Learn the technique in one session by making a sample. You will need another session if you want to make and finish your own curtains.

Zip work shop

Learn how to insert different types of zips for bags, cushions, skirts or even trousers etc. Make a purse with the zip and lining. You should be able to learn two types of zips.

Make draft for Asian Kamiz Make draft for Asian kamiz or traditional way of cutting a lose bodice. At the end of session you will have a simple bodice or kamiz draft. Please bring one of your own well fitted top for measurements.

Grading

Learn how to make a size bigger or smaller. Size 12 bodice blocks will be provided. You can explore by bringing your own pattern and change the size.

Skirt Pattern

Make a skirt draft and add the style line. Simple skirt and flayer skirt.

Shalwar draft Make a draft for Asian shalwar or Ali Baba trousers. By the end of session you should have one pattern for the shalwar.
2nd July

Trousers Making

Make trousers with waist band and zip. Zip should be learned in Zip work shop.

Sewing 1

Making Asian kamiz or Shalwar

Sew your Asian kamiz or shalwar. You should have a good machine control. As its only three hour work shop you will not be able to finish the whole garment, but can learn the techniques to sew.

Adjust readymade patterns or industrial patterns in shape or styles.

Make a Tee shirt( use of  o/locker)

Make your or child’s Tee shirt and learn how to use the over locker. For industrial over lockers you should have experience of industrial machine speed.

Welcome! To everyone who would like to learn sewing details, techniques, cutting and sewing of a garment of their choice. Learn by choice of what is relevant to you all in one session. Bring your own choice fabric or use what is available for smaller garments. Make your own course by picking and choosing sessions from the timetable.

Fee      £10.00 per session

We want to charge as little as possible, but now we have very little funding.
One session costs Heba £45.00 per person.
You are welcome to support Heba by paying an additional amount towards the full cost.

Beginners should join entry level classes (marked E on the timetable). To join a level one (1) session you need to have some basic skills already.
